I have learned just two things since 9-11, the day that changed all of our lives forever.
1. Being a civilian at the time of the attacks, I had no understanding or appreciation of the sacrifices of the our military families. Now, I am eternally grateful to be able to call 100's of families my friends. I have a deep love and respect for their daily and selfless actions. "Thank you" seems so inadequate. And we are just now starting to begin to understand the support that they need now and will need in the future.
10 years of fighting the fight on foreign soil so that we may all sleep peacefully at night...... wow.
2. Americans are flipping awesome and DO actually care and want to help. Yesterday we received a nice check from Sam's Club Mountain Region and another from The Rotary Club of Parker. Whether it is car wash, a bake sale, a corporation that true cares....the message is clear.
People do care, and want to say thank you. From the whole town of Redstone, Newman's Own, Youth for Parker, The coolest mechanic in Castle Rock, YMCA of the Rockies, private donors and 100's more. I have been blessed to be surrounded by generous and sincere people that do care!
To all of our military families, past, present and future.....you really are not forgotten.
