Dreams Come True and Retreats Will Be Built

September 29, 2011 5:14 AM

On August 27, 2011, Project Sanctuary signed an agreement with YMCA of the Rockies to raise money collaboratively for a permanent Project Sanctuary facility at Snow Mountain Ranch. With similar missions focused on families, it is a natural fit!

“This is a huge step in the right direction that will enable us to provide even more support to our military families in the coming years,” said Heather Ehle, executive director of Project Sanctuary.  “With a permanent retreat built specifically for our military families, we will be able to serve 250 families a year for the next 20 years!  And that is a great start!”

With the agreement signed, the next step will be to arrange the funding for the construction of the permanent facility.   For more information on how you can help the PS Retreat at Snow Mountain Ranch become a reality, contact info@projectsanctuary.us

Second Lady Gives Props to Project Sanctuary

In the September 19, 2011 issue of PEOPLE Magazine, Dr. Jill Biden, Second Lady of the United States, wrote a “Thank You” note in response to the August 29, 2011 article featuring Project Sanctuary.

“Thank you for highlighting the important work that Project Sanctuary is doing to support our nation’s military families,” wrote Dr. Biden.

Since the August 29, 2011 article hit the newsstands, Project Sanctuary has received more than 100 new applications.  Some of the most touching emails were from Vietnam Veterans who recognized themselves and their struggles in the People feature. It seems that are a lot invisible wounds that still need to be healed!

FUNdraising Events Keep Our Mission Moving Forward

If it isn’t fun, it’s not in our program or organization!

Our 3rd Annual Gala, held at The Wildlife Experience, was a smashing success.  The keynote speaker, Col. David Sutherland laid it all out, and pushed the crowd to involve their communities to meet the needs of our military families. TC and Sass provided a rocking good time.  Without a doubt, the 1940’s theme was a big hit, so start planning you attire for next year, we are doing it again!!

Youth For Parker is one of those organizations that really gets it.  Youth doing service projects to give back to their communities.  These “kids” put on one heck of a 5k.  The fly-overs, the booths, the partnerships made us overwhelming proud to be part of such a great community.  Our military families KNOW that they are appreciated and supported!

THANK YOU to all of our volunteers for helping at our events, and retreats.  We love seeing your smiling faces and what a great way to connect with other families and spectacular people!.

Retreat #18

Whew, 18 retreats in just over 3 years : ) Project Sanctuary was honored to be able to partner with Wounded Warrior Project to be able to better serve some dynamic and deserving families!  What a blast!!  Our families enjoyed fishing, horseback riding, Hero’s night out, and the Healthy Marriage class was so popular, we extended it!  Yep, we actually listen to our families and set out to provide the retreat that best suits their needs.  Thank you Volunteers and families, and Thank You Wounded Warrior Project!!

SAM’S CLUBS isn’t just about bulk sales, they also provide bulk support!

Our local Sam’s Club at Southlands in Aurora, has been one of our biggest and most kind hearted partners for the past few years.  If we need a lunch catered to shoot a video, no problem. If we need volunteers for a retreat, no problem. They have even sponsored 3 families!! And always throw in free cake : )  So, when we were invited to a morning meeting, we were absolutely blown away when the good people from the District Office  presented Project Sanctuary with a BIG check (making our Sept retreat possible!!)  As Sue our director of Operations would say, “WOWZA!!”.  On behalf of our military families, your support and generosity is much appreciated.
