In the wilderness of Colorado, it's easy to get lost and even easier to find yourself.

Our nation’s heroes and their families are invited to join us free-of-charge for six days and five nights of therapeutic recreation in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. YMCA of the Rockies is our Host. Reconnect with your loved ones and rediscover the bonds that unite your family in a supportive community resting on 6000 acres of stunning mountain property. Accommodations include a private cabin for the whole family, kitchenettes, full bathrooms and handicapped accessibility if required. A big lodge houses staff and volunteers, and serves as a central meeting point for meals, classes and some activities during the retreat. While here, you will have access to professional counseling and family support services including classes focused on healthy marriage and finances. You will be treated to a week of exciting outdoor activities possibly including hiking, climbing, snowshoeing and skiing. Different activities are planned for every season. Project Sanctuary's Diversion Therapy Model

Project Sanctuary is unique in that it is designed to offer support to the entire military family. Using diversion (recreational) therapy, we provide families with a fun, recreational experience while at the retreat, and the opportunity to tap into vital support structures upon returning home. At prescribed times, we devote resources to those with disabilities and those families struggling with the loss of a loved one.
